Accidents happen.  A squirrel runs into the cable box and fries it.  A gust of wind comes along, sending a weak branch careening down to the ground, snapping your lone cable wire in the process.  Or maybe, just maybe, your internet provider decides they don’t feel like providing your block with service for a couple hours (trust me, I feel like they do this).  While your General Manager may enjoy the uptick in worker productivity during this time, your on-air staff is wondering how they can execute those contests and read those liners in PromoSuite Next with no service. Luckily, we’ve got you covered!

The PromoSuite Next In-Studio Backup Application allows you the freedom to continue your day (or more importantly to get on the phone with the cable company), without the interruption of creating last minute winner sheets or liner cards, then scrambling to get them down to the studio on time. Located in the Setup & Utilities section of PromoSuite Next, under Client Tools, this app will keep a backup of your scheduled items in case such a scenario arises. 
 
When installing the In-Studio Backup App, it’s best to do so on a machine that is always on. I recommend using the studio computer.

The importance of this is twofold; firstly, you want to make sure that the backup is continuously, well, backing up. The secondary reason is easy access for your on-air staff.  What good is a backup of their contests and programming elements if they can’t access it? Keeping those documents housed on the studio computer provides that ease.

Once installed, there is no further action required. The backup app will run in the background, updating every hour. New documents will automatically be saved, replacing the existing ones. If that loss of internet ever occurs, the on-air staff can simply access the files on the computer, and read or print what is necessary.   You can also customize how many days it will backup, anywhere from 1 to 15, which you can change or update at any time.
